How a broken landing gear turned into a new plane

.... Remember when pilots used to worry about gremlins? Sam Strable didn't think the idea was all that funny.
.... After all, he was ready to pin his recurring landing gear problem on the little people. Mechanic after mechanic couldn't find the cause, regarding Sam with that special look that a mechanic gives a pilot when he tries to describe a noise the engine's been making.

.... Enter Butch Strubel. He listened to Sam's complaint and decided to take a crack at it. Wasn't very long before Butch handed the keys to Sam and said, "It's fixed." And it was.
.... Not long after, Sam said thanks in one of the nicest ways we know. He bought an airplane from us.

Creative Problem Solving Makes for
Great Customer Service

May 14, 2001

Gentlemen:

My wife and I finished having our Commander 114B's annual inspection completed at Muncie Aviation. While we have chosen to do business with both Commander Aircraft, and Muncie Aviation based on their fine reputations, this year we were never-the-less almost amazed at the outstanding service we received.

We want to particularly express our gratitude to Dan Liga at Commander and Steve Larrimore at Muncie [Aviation] for their truly customer focused efforts and cooperation in acquiring and installing an unforeseen part that could have kept the plane in the shop for several extra days.

Both men are employees that any organization should consider fortunate to have on their staff.

Cordially,
Don Meisling
